It seemed like only yesterday when the Diamond Tide design team (who with over 40years combined experience – seriously KNOW their swimwear) contacted Mackney Photography. We used our knowledge of fashion and photography to help create some stunning hero shots for their website and swimwear campaign. It’s taken months of planning in order to come up with ideas that Diamond Tide were happy with, and a few model castings in order to get the correct model in!!
It’s so important to find the right “look” as that person will be representing YOUR brand. We definitely think Diamond Tide found their model- sexy, warm yet friendly, and of course exuding what Diamond Tide is all about…a bit of luxury.
With the marketing expertise and the team behind their website (Fish Media) – we made the perfect partnership when it comes to nailing each and everyone of those hero shots…
Then of course its the aftercare that makes the difference..you wouldn’t order a main course at a Michelin Star hotel without having it garnished would you?? Neither would we have our fashion photography without our digital work applied! This means “cleansing” of the skin, reworking the tones so its correct and making sure of course that the lumps and bumps are ALL in the right places.
It’s lovely when a client sees our website in the UK and commissions us to visit them abroad to work our magic – which is exactly what we did for the beautiful “boutique” chalet based in Uttendorf, Austria.
Anthony and Ingrid Beardmore purchased the chalet in August 2013 and have been renovating it to offer something a little bit different…a spot of luxury away from home right in the alps! We were briefed to make the images “homely”, yet inviting – so with the help of Wendy who styled all the rooms – I think we managed to gain some lovely shots for their website and promotional usage.
After appearing in the Guardian newspaper – this Chalet is certainly one to look out for in 2014!!

Kristan Bromley is arguably Great Britain’s finest Skeleton slider. He has been World Champion, European Champion and British Champion…so yep – he’s a world class skeleton racer!
Kristan and the team from Bromley Technologies with Nikken asked Mackney Photography to shoot promotional material, to use for websites, brochures and in the lead up to the Sochi 2014 winter Olympics.
As with all projects we do, careful strategic planning took place weeks before the shoot and we came up with some innovative ideas to capture “speed” and “action” of Kristan in action. Images were shot in the studio with fast flash duration lighting and took over 8 hours to complete. A further week of digital work took place to work on all the images to make them stand out from your “normal” sports photography. Here are the results!
We used for the shoot, PocketWizard – Triggers
thank you to Johnsons Photopia for the Sponsorship
Paul C. Buff – Einstein E640 to freeze the action and motion
Nikon D4 and Nikon D800E

How exciting – the British Bobsleigh team have gained a Silver medal in the warm up championships in Germany.
We’re going to be cheering them on as the team head to Sochi this Sunday. We’re glad to have captured ALL four qualifiers for their team shot…all done in the studio with a heavy amount of digital work to really show their power, stamina and durance in our images…here they are again – well done Bruce Tasker, Joel Fearon, Stuart Benson and pilot John Jackson!
We’ve been rather busy working on a project we quite enjoy – sports portraiture, and we had the pleasure of photographing the Great British Bobsleigh team 2014. This is the first sneak preview before the Winter Olympics in Sochi Russia in February.
We worked with the GB team in 2012, but as uniforms changed, and members finally picked out to represent Great Britain – we were contacted to work with them on some dramatic imaging for them to use for the Winter Olympics.
We had the pleasure of photographing Great British Bobsleigh athlete Bruce Tasker, John Jackson “Jacko”, Joel Fearon, and Stuart Benson.
With careful planning – the whole shoot lasted 13 hours – all completed in our fantastic drive
in, Darley Abbey photographic studios, shot by Simon Mackney. Digital work was then used by Simon and the Mackney team to “finish” these stunning shots that are now proudly on our website and used by GB Bobsleigh team for their promotional material.
From all of us at Mackney Photography – GO Team GB!!!!!!!

This was a lovely if tricky shoot – how to make rooms look light, bright and airy – on a dull, cold day?? We had to use a lot of lighting equipment with help from two assistants to light up each room to create a “morning” glow effect for Birchover’s bridal suites.
Just trying out some new digital techniques on this image of Bruce Tasker photographed in the studio….36.4hours later – here’s the finished result.
We’ve had more and more request for our digital expertise in creating ideas and creating exciting art work like this though it’s not an easy job to create. Painstakingly cutting out each fragment bit by bit….phewy!
Smashing out of a glacier block and running for GOLD – go Great Britsh Bobsleigh team at the Sochi winter olympics 2014.
